Wingify Insights helps a user analyze the behavior of website visitors based on their actions such as page visits, page exits, clicks on elements, etc. The idea is to attribute some of these actions to business-critical events like purchase, sign-ups, etc- which can be considered a conversion. Based on analyzing such behavior, users can identify problem areas of the website due to which visitors are not converting. Insights help with the research stage of experience optimization- to understand what visitors are (not) doing on the website and figure out why they are (not) doing it. It provides the different directions in which a website can be optimized.
Proper research and insight generation is the bedrock of a good optimization program. It leaves very little to assumption and guides the user to perform data-backed ideation and testing.
Using Wingify Insights, you can typically:
- Visualize aggregated visitor behavior using Heatmaps
- Figure out why visitors are not converting goals
- Figure out where and why visitors drop-off using conversion Funnels
- Deep-dive into an individual visitor’s experience using Session Recordings
- Ask your visitors for feedback using On-Page Surveys
- Know why visitors abandon forms using Form Analytics
- Create winning UX with Usability Reviews
Using these features of Wingify Insights, you can analyze how different features on a web page are influencing a visitor’s behavior. For example, you might find that the search tool placed on your landing page is getting you more conversions than the showcased product categories. Getting such insights can significantly help you eliminate unwanted features and focus more on the ones that convert better.
Wingify Insights comprises of the following:
Funnels
A funnel is a sequence of goals that represents the visitors’ journey on your website. Using Funnels, you can map out how they progress through different stages and where they drop off. This helps you identify where in the journey, visitors are losing interest. You can then dive deep into why they are dropping off with the help of Session Recordings and Heatmaps.
For example, in an e-commerce website- visitors land on the website, search for the desired products, add them to the cart, and finally check out. The requirement here is to track the user's journey from the moment they land on the website until they check out the product. Here's how the funnel tracking works:
- Landing page: This is where all the visitors land on the website. The funnel tracking process begins with tracking the total number of visits on this page.
- Product Listing Page (PLP): The visitor performs a search and gets a list of products that match the search. A visitor might modify the result with modifications to the search and/or applying some filters.
- Product Description Page (PDP): Visitor views details about one or multiple products and proceeds to add them to the cart., the funnel tracks how many visitors clicked the Add to Cart button.
- Checkout: On the Checkout page, Funnel tracks how many visitors clicked the Checkout button
- Final Conversion: When a visitor completes registration/payment and all needed formalities to complete the purchase. A ‘thank you’ page visit that represents a successful completion can be tracked by the funnel.
Session Recordings
Wingify Session Recordings allows you to record and replay visitor journeys and interactions with your website in a video form. These recordings capture the mouse movements, scrolls, and clicks of the visitors throughout the website pages representing how they navigate through your website.
Using Session Recordings, you can map the visitor journeys on your website and figure out exactly why they are leaving, what’s stopping them from buying, where do they spend most of their time on a page, etc. Session Recordings help analyze a specific visitor in-depth.

Heatmaps
A heatmap is a visual representation of data that uses color-coding to represent how visitors engage in different web pages. From clicking elements to selecting an option from a modal box to browsing page content, the Heatmaps report helps you identify visitor behavior and how they interact with a web page, where they click if an important CTA or link is getting enough clicks, and other data. Based on your heatmap reports, you can ideate and experiment more optimum page layout. Heatmaps help analyze multiple visitors’ data in an aggregated manner.
Using Wingify, you can analyze the click patterns and behavior of your website visitors by generating different report types like- Clickmap, Scrollmap, ClickArea, and Element List.

Form Analytics
Using Form Analytics in Wingify, you can find out how visitors interact with your forms and what causes them to drop off by analyzing real-time data. You can also see which fields caused them the most confusion, took them most of the time or needed the most refills. For example, you may come across the recordings of visitors who did not submit the form or struggled with a field for a long time to really understand what’s causing them confusion.
With Wingify Form Analytics, you can also look at field-level statistics to see beyond your average submission rate. Form Analysis helps you evaluate your website forms to identify issues or usability problems that might be stopping your visitors from successfully converting and making a form submit.

Things to Consider While Working with Wingify Insights
Describes the things that you need to consider while setting up Insights in Wingify.
- Visitor quota consumption for Wingify Insights works on the basic dynamic sampling. This ensures that the quota that you have purchased will last through the month, for a representative sample whose behavior is tracked end to end for all of their visits (sessions). This applies to visitors who are tracked in Business Goals. Funnels, Heatmaps, Recordings, and Form Analytics
- Quota consumption for surveys is for every complete response that a visitor provides. While the maximum responses in the month are numerically equal to the Insights quota, it does not depend on your account's visitor sampling. The survey is shown to all visitors who qualify for its target conditions irrespective of whether the visitor is sampled or not
Note: If you subscribe to the monthly plans, your survey quota gets refilled every month. In the case of long-term plans, the combined survey quota of the entire term is available upfront. For example, If you have subscribed for an annual plan with a 10,000 visitor quota, you will get a 120,000 survey quota upfront.
Wingify records only the first three clicks from a user for every page on any of their visits for generating a heatmap or clickmap report
Note: Our internal research shows that the first three clicks on a webpage are the most important clicks and have a huge impact on the reports, but this can be customized as per your requirement. To know more, refer to this article.
- Cross-domain tracking is not supported in Wingify Insights
- The maximum duration of a session for which recordings will be captured is 2 hours with a maximum of 20 page views. If the duration exceeds 2 hours or the page views goes beyond 20 pages, no new data will be recorded in the current session
- To create a Funnel, you need to create a minimum of two goals
- A visitor needs to spend a minimum of 5 seconds in a session for the recording to be seen in the Wingify dashboard
- To record the observations on the go, you can use the observation mode in Wingify Plugin.
