Set up your Personalize Campaign Pages
Personalize campaigns are helpful in applying targeted experiences specific to different segments of visitors. Wingify Personalize comes with all the privileges of an A/B test, combined with the potential to create and apply segment-specific experiences.
To create a Personalize campaign, from the main menu, click Personalize > Create. A new campaign is created. The campaign page appears with the default name auto-generated in the format Campaign [number]. To change it, click the pencil icon present next to it and enter a name.
The entire process of configuring a Personalize campaign involves seven steps, which are as follows:
Step 1: Pages
You can set up the pages for the campaign manually, or use Copilot to Fastrack Your Campaign Pages Configuration.
This article further explains how you can configure the pages manually.
- In the Include pages where field, enter the campaign URL that you want to personalize. Using this dropdown, you can also define advanced pattern-matching options to include either a broad URL with wildcard entries or a specific URL. To learn about using different URL types, refer to Using URL Patterns in Wingify. To include or exclude URLs from the campaign, use the respective fields. In the case of specifying a URL pattern for the campaign, where you wish to exclude a given webpage that matches the pattern criteria, the Exclude pages option comes in handy. For example: Let’s say you wish to run a site-wide campaign on https://vwo.com, but you want to exclude the Contact Us page (https://vwo.com/contact-us/) from it. Then, you need to mention the URLs in the respective fields as follows: Include pages: https://vwo.com* Exclude pages: https://vwo.com/contact-us/
- Use the URL validator to verify if the URLS you entered in the first step are part of the campaign. Enter a URL to check and click Validate. Based on the URL’s eligibility in the campaign, the system displays a message indicating whether the campaign will run on the URL.
- If the changes are not automatically saved, click Save Now.
- Click Next to move to the Experiences section and configure the experiences for the campaign. Alternatively, click Experiences in the left panel.
Step 2: Experiences
By default, the campaign URL is set as the Editor URL. This is the URL that Wingify can load in the Visual Editor to create experiences, use for previews and screenshots, and generate heatmap reports if heatmaps are enabled. To modify it, click the pencil icon and enter the new URL. Configure the remaining settings as follows:
- Choose the mode in which you want to create or edit the experiences. Click the Edit with dropdown and select between Visual editor and Code editor. This article explains how to create experiences using the visual editor. NOTE:
- The Code editor mode is an advanced mode for developers which allows creating variations in a code-only mode instead of using the Visual editor. Variations created using this mode cannot be further edited using Visual Editor. To learn more about Code Editor, refer to Wingify Code Editor.
- This Code editor option is not available in Split URL and Multivariate tests. However, in a Multivariate test, if you wish to add custom code, then it can be done using the visual editor.
- Click View mode to select how you want to display the pages. By default, it is set to Desktop. You can choose between Desktop, Mobile, and Tablet. Use Mobile or Tablet if you are creating your test for a mobile or tablet device. This loads the Wingify Editor in a simulated mobile or tablet view instead of the default desktop view.
- Click Add experience to create an experience in the campaign. Save the changes and then click Edit to open the visual editor. For further information, see Using Visual Editor to Create Variations.
Once you are done creating your experiences, click Next. The Wingify Visual Editor gets closed and you will be taken back to the campaign creation process.
Step 3: Targets
This page allows you to define visitor segments and assign them multiple experiences. This allows you to reuse experiences for various visitor segments. Furthermore, you can use the Personalize Holdback feature to reserve a portion of your website traffic as a control group and hold back the personalized experience campaign for this group. If enabled, the holdback group would see the default experience, while the remaining traffic would see the personalized experience. Once you are done configuring the targets, click Next.
Step 4: Target Qualifications
Sometimes, there are chances where a visitor may qualify for more than one target. This happens for those targeting conditions that share an intersection. This page allows you to define how visitors are assigned when they qualify for multiple targets. You can also determine whether Wingify should reassess a visitor’s eligibility on each visit. Step 5: Metrics
From this section, you can define and track KPIs to get a sharper view of your conversion success. Metrics in Personalize refer to the events that you specify to be accomplished by the visitors that qualify your targeting conditions. This allows you to understand the extent to which the purpose of each of the experiences is fulfilled. For example, a visitor clicking on the offer banner that you have designed specifically targeting the corresponding segment of the visitor.

Set the conversion window for the metric. This defines how long Wingify should wait after a visitor sees a variation before it is counted as a conversion for the metric. By default, the window is set to Campaign runtime, meaning conversions are counted until the campaign is paused or ended. Click the pencil icon to change this setting.
From the Set conversion window pop-up, define how you want to configure the conversion window duration. You can choose from three options:

Campaign runtime
Counts conversions until the campaign is paused or ended. Ideal for campaigns that aim to capture actions over a longer duration, such as purchases, sign-ups, or feature adoption that may not happen immediately. For example, you are testing a new onboarding flow. A visitor explores the variation today, but completes the account setup three days later while the campaign is still running. Wingify counts this as a conversion. If the visitor completes the setup after the campaign has ended, Wingify does not count it as a conversion. -
Set duration
Note: This setting is available only on the Enterprise plan for Wingify Web Experimentation, Personalize, Feature Experimentation, and Mobile App Testing.
This option lets you define a custom time window (for example, 10 minutes, 1 hour, 3 days). After selecting this option, enter the time value and select the unit (Days, Hours, Minutes) for which Wingify should wait after a visitor sees a variation to count their conversion. In this method, conversions are counted anytime after a visitor enters a campaign (even days later), however, it must be within the specified time limit. This method is useful for time-sensitive goals that are not necessarily immediate but shouldn’t be tracked indefinitely. For example, you are testing a limited-time discount banner and you set the attribution duration to 1 Day. A visitor sees the variation on Monday, but purchases the item on Wednesday. Wingify will not count this as a conversion, since it happened after the 1-day attribution window ended. If the visitor had purchased it within 1 day, Wingify would have counted it as a conversion. -
Until session ends
Note: This setting is available only on the Enterprise plan for Wingify Web Experimentation, Personalize, Feature Experimentation, and Mobile App Testing.
Counts conversions only during the same session in which the visitor saw the variation. Ideal for campaigns that aim to influence immediate actions, such as quick sign-ups or flash offers. For example, you are testing a pop-up that offers a discount for an immediate purchase. A visitor visits the landing page and completes the purchase in the same session (within 30 minutes). Wingify counts this as a conversion. If the visitor returns later in a new session and completes the purchase, Wingify does not count it as a conversion. Note: In Wingify, a session starts when a visitor lands on the page and ends after 30 minutes of inactivity. If the same visitor returns after 30 minutes or more of no activity, a new session begins.
Once you are done setting up the metrics, click Save Changes.
Step 5: Audience and Traffic
From this section, you can apply campaign-level segmentation. Use this option if you want to target specific visitor segments through the campaign. You can create custom segments for your visitors based on geographical location, user device, and other user behavior.
Note: If both campaign-level and target-level segmentations (in Step 3) are configured, the campaign-level segmentation is applied first, followed by the target-level segmentation.
Using the option, you can use Wingify default segments or create your custom visitor target segment that meets your requirement.
By default, campaign targeting is disabled and all website visitors become part of the test.

Step 7: Integrations
From this section, you can leverage Wingify Personalize’s third-party integrations to enhance the analytics.
Use these integrations to:
- Push campaign data from Wingify to external tools for advanced analysis.
- Pull audience data from third-party platforms into Wingify to power more targeted personalization.

Step 8: More configurations
This is the last stage of campaign creation that lets you finalize your campaign settings with some advanced options. These options include setting up triggers for the campaign, enabling scheduling or manual activation, configuring mutually exclusive campaigns, and more.
To add notes about something important regarding your campaign, click Add notes, and enter the information. To add labels to your campaign, click Add labels.
NOTE: Labels can be used to filter out the campaign on the dashboard.
Wingify automatically saves all your changes. If not, once you finalize your campaign's advanced settings, click Save now to save the changes.
NOTE: All of the above-mentioned settings can be modified even after campaign creation. To do this, select the campaign from the Personalize dashboard, and navigate to the Configuration tab. However, we do not recommend altering your campaign settings after starting the campaign, as it would render skewed results.
Info: We strongly recommend verifying the campaign setup from the Review tab before starting your campaign.
Now, your campaign is configured, and its summary appears along with the Start campaign option to start the campaign right away.
