Overview
Hypotheses in Wingify Plan is a structured workspace for capturing, prioritizing, and tracking experiment ideas. It allows teams to move hypotheses through a defined workflow, from initial backlog to testing to completion, ensuring that experimentation is grounded in research and aligned across teams.
Unlike other modules in Wingify, the Hypotheses listing page offers two distinct views:
- Progress View: The default view, which displays hypotheses as a Kanban-style board organized into workflow lanes such as Backlog, Selected For Testing, Completed, and Archived. This view is designed for tracking and managing the progression of hypotheses through the experimentation pipeline.
- Table View: A structured table layout that displays hypotheses as rows with key details in columns. This view is better suited for scanning, sorting, and performing bulk actions across a large number of hypotheses.
From the Hypotheses listing page, you can:
- View and manage all hypotheses across workflow stages in a single interface.
- Move hypotheses through workflow lanes in Progress View.
- Filter hypotheses based on attributes such as Creation Date or Labels.
- Customize visible columns in Table View to focus on the most relevant data.
- Bulk import hypotheses in a CSV file.
- Delete multiple hypotheses at once.
The next section outlines how different roles can use the Hypotheses listing page in Wingify Plan.
Role-based Usage Examples for the Hypotheses Listing Page
Based on their role, different personas can use the Hypotheses listing page in different ways:
| Role | Usage |
|---|---|
| CRO Specialist | Use Progress View to manage the experimentation pipeline, move hypotheses from Backlog to Selected For Testing as experiments are prioritized, and to Completed once results are available. Use confidence scores to prioritize which hypotheses to test next. |
| Product Manager | Get a high-level view of all hypotheses in the pipeline. Use Progress View to track how many ideas are in each stage and identify bottlenecks. Use Table View to sort by confidence score or creation date for prioritization. |
| UX Researcher | Link observations to hypotheses from the listing page to ensure research findings are connected to the experimentation pipeline. Use labels to organize hypotheses by research theme or product area. |
| Data Analyst | Use Table View to scan hypothesis confidence scores and linked tests. Apply filters to segment hypotheses by creator or date for reporting purposes. |
| Growth / Experimentation Manager | Use Progress View to oversee the full hypothesis pipeline across the team. Use bulk actions to archive completed or deprioritized hypotheses and keep the workspace organized. |
These examples highlight how the Hypotheses listing page supports structured experimentation planning, helping teams move from insight to tested hypothesis systematically.
Access and Navigate the Hypotheses Listing Page
Before you begin, ensure you have:
- An active Wingify account with access to Wingify Plan.
- The required user role and workspace permissions to access Hypotheses.
To access the Hypotheses listing page:
- From the main menu on the Wingify dashboard, navigate to Wingify Plan and select Hypotheses. The listing page opens in Progress View by default, displaying all hypotheses organized into workflow lanes.
- To switch to Table View, click Table View at the top-left of the listing page.
- Use the Create button at the top-right corner to add a new hypothesis, or use Import CSV to bulk import hypotheses from a file.
Understand the Hypotheses Listing Views
The Hypotheses listing page offers two views, each designed for a different way of working with your hypotheses.
Progress View
Progress View is the default view. It displays hypotheses as cards organized into Kanban-style workflow lanes. Each lane represents a stage in the experimentation pipeline.
| Lane | Description |
|---|---|
| Backlog | Hypotheses that have been captured but not yet prioritized for testing. |
| Selected For Testing | Hypotheses that have been reviewed and selected for upcoming experiments. |
| Completed | Hypotheses that have been tested and the experiment has concluded. |
| Archived | Hypotheses that are no longer active but are retained for reference. |
Each hypothesis card displays the hypothesis name, a brief description, confidence score (if assigned), and any linked tests. You can drag and drop cards between lanes to update their workflow stage, or click a card to open its detailed view.
Note: You can customize the workflow lanes to match your team's process by clicking Customize workflow at the top-right corner of the Progress View.
Table View
Table View displays hypotheses in a structured table, with each row representing a hypothesis and key details shown as columns. This view is better suited for sorting, filtering, and performing bulk actions across a large number of hypotheses. To switch to Table View, click Table View at the top-left of the listing page.
Note:
- Columns are available only in Table View.
- Within the Table View, you have the option to switch to the List View. In this view, details are presented in a simplified, stacked format without column-based organization. Use the view toggle at the top-right of the listing page to switch between Table View and List View.
- Switching views does not affect your data or filters. It only changes how the information is presented, allowing you to choose the layout that best suits your workflow.
The following table describes each column available in Table View:
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | The hypothesis name, description, and auto-assigned hypothesis number, for example, H79. Clicking the row opens the hypothesis's detailed view. |
| Confidence | A score indicating how confident the team is in the hypothesis, based on supporting evidence and research. |
| Linked Test | The experiment or campaign linked to this hypothesis, if any. |
| Created On | The date on which the hypothesis was created, along with the creator's name. |
| Favorite | Allows you to mark a hypothesis as a favorite for quick access. |
Note: The Name column is always visible and cannot be removed.
Filter Hypotheses
Filters help you quickly narrow down or search for hypotheses based on specific attributes.
In Progress View, filtering is done using the label filter bar at the top of the board. Enter one or more labels to filter the hypothesis cards displayed across all lanes.
In Table View:
- Click Add Filter at the top of the table.
- Select the filter type from the dropdown. Choose one or more values for the selected filter. The table updates automatically to reflect the applied filters. The available filters include:
| Filter | Description |
|---|---|
| Creation Date | Filter hypotheses based on when they were created. |
| Labels | Filter using assigned labels or tags for better organization. |
| Creator | View hypotheses created by specific users. |
You can apply multiple filters simultaneously to create more refined views, for example, hypotheses tagged with a specific label created within a defined date range.
Customize the Hypotheses Table View
The Table View is fully customizable, allowing you to tailor the columns based on your role or workflow.
To customize the table:
- Click the column settings ⚙ icon at the far right of the table header. This opens the column configuration panel, where you can manage the displayed data points.
- The Active view section shows all currently visible columns.
- The Available columns section lists additional data points you can include.
- Drag and drop columns to reorder them based on priority.
Tip: Place frequently used fields at the top, so they appear on the left in the table, for quicker scanning.
- To add a column, select the checkbox next to the desired field from the Available Columns section.
- To remove a column, clear the checkbox for any active column you no longer need.
- To revert to the default view, click the Reset icon at the top-right corner of the panel.
Changes are applied immediately, allowing you to iterate on your view without disruption.
Note: Customization applies to Table View only. The layout of Progress View is determined by the workflow lane configuration, which can be adjusted using Customize workflow.
Perform Bulk Actions on Hypotheses
In the Table View, you can delete multiple hypotheses at once, helping you manage large volumes of records more efficiently.
To delete multiple hypotheses:
- Switch to Table View.
- Select the checkboxes next to the hypotheses you want to delete.
- Click Delete to remove them from your account.
Note:
- Deletion applies to all selected hypotheses at once, so ensure you have selected the correct records before proceeding.
- Deleting hypotheses is irreversible. Use this option only when you are certain they are no longer needed.
FAQs
-
What is the confidence score?
The confidence score is a numerical indicator of how strongly the hypothesis is supported by evidence such as observations, analytics data, or user research. It helps teams prioritize which hypotheses to test first.
