Using the Wingify-Jira Integration
Prerequisites
To set up this integration, the user must have:
- Active Wingify and Jira accounts
- Member access to create a Jira ticket from Wingify. For more information, see Team-managed project roles in Jira.
- Owner and Admin level access in Wingify. For more information, see Roles and Permissions in Wingify.
Enable and configure the Wingify-Jira Integration
- Log in to your Wingify account.
- From the left panel of your Wingify dashboard, go to Configurations > Integrations.
- Search for Jira in the search bar.
- Click the Jira tile. The connection screen appears.
- Click Connection Jira. A panel appears on the right.
- In the panel, enter the connection name in the Connection Name field (for example, Jira connector).
- Enter the credentials such User name, API Token, Instance URL.
- Click Create Connection. A connection is established between Wingify and Jira
- In the Complete JIRA integration section, select the feature for which you want to configure the integration.
- For each feature, configure the following details:
- Select the Jira project. The tickets will be created under this project.
- Choose whether the Jira ticket must be created for all observations/hypotheses or only for selected ones.
- Select Push all observations/Push all hypotheses to enable Jira ticket creation for all observations/hypotheses created in Wingify. If this option is selected, a Jira ticket is created for each observation/hypothesis by default.
- Select Let me choose to enable Jira ticket creation only for select observations or hypotheses. If this option is selected, the user can decide if they want a Jira ticket created for each observation or hypothesis individually.
- Under Advance Settings, select the Default Ticket type for the Jira ticket that is created. Choose from Task, Bug, Story, or Epic.
- Click Save.
- [Optional] Once the configuration is saved, you can use the Create test ticket option to test it. This option is available only after you save the configuration. If the configuration is successful, clicking on Create test ticket creates a test Jira ticket under the configured Jira project.
NOTE: Click Hide permanently to hide the Create test ticket option permanently. Once you hide this option, you won’t be able to create a test ticket from here again.
Create a Jira Ticket for an Observation through Wingify
- In Wingify, navigate to Plan > Observations.
- Click Create an Observation.
- Enter the Description, Page URL, and Labels.
- Check the Create as Jira ticket box.
NOTE: While configuring the Wingify-Jira integration, if the Push all observations option is selected, the Create as Jira ticket box is checked by default. - Click Create.
The observation is listed, showing it's connected to the Jira ticket. - Click Jira ticket to open the ticket in Jira. Alternatively, go to Jira and verify that a corresponding ticket is created in your project.
Create a Jira Ticket for a Hypothesis through Wingify
- In Wingify, navigate to Plan > Hypotheses.
- Click Create a Hypothesis.
- Enter the required information, including the linked observation.
- Check the Create as Jira ticket box.
NOTE: While configuring the Wingify-Jira integration, if the Push all hypotheses option is selected, the Create as Jira ticket box is checked by default. - Click Create.
The hypothesis is listed, showing it's connected to the Jira ticket.
Click View this in Jira to open the ticket in Jira. Alternatively, go to Jira and verify that a corresponding ticket is created in your project.
