Integrate Wingify with Pendo

Overview

This article describes how to integrate Wingify with Pendo, a product analytics and user engagement platform. Enabling this integration allows Wingify to automatically send campaign and variation data to Pendo whenever a visitor becomes part of an active Wingify campaign.

Enable the Pendo Integration for Your Wingify Account

To enable the Wingify<>Pendo integration for your Wingify account, the following prerequisites must be met:

Procedure

  1. Log in to your Wingify account.
  2. From the left panel of your Wingify dashboard, go to Configurations > Integrations. 
  3. Search for Pendo in the search bar.
  4. Click the Pendo tile. The Pendo connection screen appears.
  5. Click Create Connection. A panel appears on the right.
  6. In the panel, click Send campaign data to Pendo. 
  7. Provide the name of the connection in the Connection Name field (for example, Pendo connector). 
  8. Click Create Connection. 
  9. To enable the integration at the campaign level, use the following steps:
    1. Navigate to Web Experimentation or Personalize.
    2. Select the desired campaign, and go to Configuration > Integrations.
    3. Select the Pendo checkbox from the list of available integrations and click Save Now.

Once you enable the connection, you can start sending your Wingify experiment data to Pendo at the campaign level.

Verify the Integration Setup

You can check whether the integration setup is complete or troubleshoot it by verifying network calls to identify the data pushed from Wingify to Pendo. 

To verify:

  1. Ensure the campaign you configured is running and receiving traffic.
  2. Visit a page included in the Wingify campaign yourself, ensuring you are bucketed into one of the variations.
  3. Log in to your Pendo account and navigate to Settings > Subscription Settings > Applications > Your App > Raw Events.
  4. Click on any track event to view the event details. The Event Info pop-up indicates that Wingify is pushing the values to Pendo.
  • Ensure Pendo Snippet Presence: Double-check that the Pendo installation snippet is correctly deployed and active on all pages targeted by your Wingify campaigns where you enable this integration.
  • Consistent Naming: Use clear and consistent names for your Wingify campaigns and variations, as these names will appear directly in Pendo.
  • Selective Enablement: Enable the Pendo integration only for campaigns where analyzing the results within Pendo adds significant value. This keeps your Pendo data cleaner.
  • Consult Pendo Documentation: Refer to Pendo's help resources for the best ways to leverage custom event properties for creating segments, building reports, and triggering guides based on the Wingify data.

Troubleshooting

Issue Solution
 Data (vwo_campaign_name, vwo_variation_name) is not appearing in Pendo Raw Events. 
  • Confirm the integration is enabled for your Wingify account (Integrations > Pendo > Config) AND for the specific Wingify campaign (Campaign > Configuration > Integrations).
  • Verify the Pendo installation snippet is present and loading correctly on the exact pages where the Wingify campaign runs. Use browser developer tools to check for the Pendo agent and any related errors.
  • Ensure the Wingify SmartCode is also running correctly on those pages.
  • Check if there's a delay in Pendo's data processing. Wait a few minutes and check again.
Wingify data appears in Pendo, but the campaign or variation names seem incorrect.  Double-check the campaign and variation names configured in Wingify. If names were changed recently in Wingify, Pendo might receive the updated names only for newly bucketed visitors

FAQs

Q: Do I need to add any extra code to my website for this integration?

A: You do not need to add any Wingify-specific code beyond the standard Wingify SmartCode. However, the standard Pendo installation snippet (JS library/agent) must already be installed and working on the pages where your Wingify campaign runs.

Q: Where exactly will I see the Wingify data inside Pendo?

A: The Wingify campaign and variation names are typically sent as properties within events recorded by Pendo (e.g., as part of a track event). You can view this in Pendo's Raw Events feed and use these properties to build segments, filter reports, or target guides within the Pendo platform. Consult Pendo's documentation for details.

Q: Will Wingify send data to Pendo for visitors who saw the campaign before I enabled the integration?

A: No. Data is sent only for visitor sessions that occur after the integration has been successfully enabled both, globally and for the specific campaign. The integration does not work retroactively.
