Overview
Before running a campaign, you can define audiences to group website visitors based on attributes, events, integrations, and other supported conditions. Visitors who meet the defined conditions are eligible to participate in the campaign.
The Audiences page in Data360 lets you create, save, and manage reusable audiences that you can use across multiple campaigns.
For example, you can create an audience that targets visitors from India and the United States and reuse it across multiple campaigns.
Audience Types
Audiences are organized into two categories:
- Standard Audiences: Predefined audiences available in Wingify.
- My Segments: Audiences that you create and save for reuse across multiple campaigns.
You can view, search, edit, clone, delete, and reuse saved audiences from this page.
Create an Audience
An audience is a reusable set of visitor conditions that determines which visitors are eligible to participate in a campaign.
To create an audience:
- Log in to your Wingify account.
- Go to Data360 > Audiences.
- Click Create.
- Enter a name for the audience.
- Under Audience Definition, select a category and define the condition for the audience. To learn about the available condition categories, see Define Audience Conditions.
- From the first dropdown, select a condition category.
- From the second dropdown, select an operator.
- In the field next to it, enter the required value for the selected condition.
- To create a complex audience:
i. If you want to define multiple conditions, click Add another condition.
ii. Use AND and OR operators to combine multiple conditions.
iii. Select Clone condition if you want to copy a condition. For example, if you create a condition and want a similar one with slight changes, you can duplicate the existing condition instead of creating it from scratch.
For example, (Browser = Chrome OR Browser = Firefox) AND Country = United States ensures that only visitors using Chrome or Firefox from the United States are included in the audience. - Click Create.
The audience is now available under My Segments for selection while configuring campaign targeting.
Define Audience Conditions
You can define an audience using one or more of the following condition categories.
- Attributes: Target visitors using visitor properties such as location, device details, landing page, traffic source, time, custom, and other supported attributes.
- Standard Events: Use the predefined events provided by Wingify.
- My Events: Use custom events created in Data360 > Events.
- Integrations: Use data from supported third-party integrations to define audience conditions.
Use an Audience in a Campaign
- Navigate to Web Experimentation and select the required campaign.
- Go to Configuration > Targeting > Segments > Custom Segments.
- Select the required audience from the My Segments section.
- Click Apply.
Audiences vs Segments
Wingify supports two types of segmentation: pre-segmentation (before running a campaign) and post-segmentation (after campaign data is collected). Although both audiences and report segments use visitor conditions, they serve different purposes.
The following table summarizes the key differences between audiences and segments:
| Audiences | Segments |
| Used before a campaign runs to determine visitor eligibility | Used after campaign data is collected to analyze visitor behavior |
| Managed from Data360 > Audiences | Managed from Data360 > Segments |
| Selected while configuring campaign targeting | Applied while viewing campaign reports |
