Overview
Google Tag Manager is a tag management system where you can centralize all your tags that can be used to track and analyze several parameters on your website, including conversion rates, visitor behavior, and the like. It also provides the ability to update and customize the tags to suit your requirements - all of this can be performed using the UI without depending on a coder.
Integrating GTM with your Wingify account allows you to send Wingify campaign and survey data to GTM for further processing and analysis.
Create a GTM Connection in Wingify
Wingify supports the following GTM connection types:
- Send campaign data to Google Tag Manager (GTM) (Push-based): Sends Wingify campaign and variation data to GTM for tracking and analysis.
- Send survey data to Google Tag Manager (GTM) (Survey data): Sends Wingify survey response data to GTM for analysis and reporting.
To create a GTM connection in your Wingify account:
- Log in to your Wingify account.
- From the left panel, navigate to Configurations > Integrations.
- Click the Google Tag Manager (GTM) integration tile, then click Create Connection.
- Select the connection type you want to configure.
- Enter a name in the Connection Name field (e.g., GTM Connector).
- Click Create Connection.
All configured connections appear under the Active Connections section on the GTM integration page.
To enable the integration at the campaign level:
- Navigate to Web Experimentation.
- Select the desired campaign, and go to Configuration > Integrations.
- Select Google Tag Manager (GTM) from the list of available integrations.
Target Visitors Based on GTM Data Layer
By integrating GTM with your Wingify account, you will also be able to target the visitors in your Wingify campaigns based on any GTM Data Layer variable/event. You can create a simple targeting condition by specifying one of the GTM Data Layer variables/events or combine multiple data layer variables/events to create a complex condition. To use a GTM Data Layer variable/event as a targeting condition, perform the following steps:
- Log in to your Wingify account.
- Using the Web Experimentation section, create a test campaign.
- Go to Configuration > Targeting > Segments > Custom Segment.
- Create a segment using the GTM Data Layer condition.
- To add multiple conditions, click Add condition. Also, you can define the logical relationship between the different conditions using the and/or operators and use brackets to organize the segment condition.
- Once done, click Save Segment.
Now, Wingify can target the visitors who qualify for the condition specified for the GTM Data Layer variable/event.
