Overview
A board consolidates multiple Journey Analytics reports onto a single page. It allows you to track related metrics, funnels, and flows as a group instead of opening each report individually.
For example, a board built for a content marketing initiative can combine a blog traffic trend, a free trial funnel, and a demo request funnel, giving your team a consolidated view of how content contributes to signups.
Each report on a board remains connected to its source report, so the data updates automatically as new activity is recorded. This eliminates the need to open, filter, and cross-reference multiple reports separately. It saves time during reviews and gives stakeholders a single, shareable source of truth for a campaign or workstream.
This article covers how to find a board, navigate within it, interact with its content, and manage it.
Locate and Open a Board
You can locate a board in three ways: from the Journey Analytics home page (Overview page), from the Starred/Recents section, or through Browse.
Locate a Board from the Journey Analytics Home (Overview) Page
In your Wingify account, go to Journey Analytics > Overview from the left navigation panel. The Journey Analytics home page opens with a Recently viewed carousel at the top and a table below it.
To locate a board here:
- Use the Recently viewed carousel to reopen a board you accessed recently.
- Alternatively, switch between the Starred and Created by me tabs above the table to narrow the list.
- Click the Boards tab in the table header to show only boards in the table.
- Click a board's name in the table to open it.
The board opens displaying its contents.
Locate a Board from Starred/Recents
Use this option for quick access to boards you have marked as favorites or opened recently.
To locate a board from here:
- In the left navigation panel, expand Journey Analytics.
- Click Starred/Recents.
A flyout opens with a search bar and two tabs: Recents and Starred. - To search directly, enter a keyword in the Search all boards and reports field.
- To browse instead, click the Recents tab to see items you opened recently, or the Starred tab to see items you have favorited. Each row shows the item's name, type icon, and creator's initials.
- Select a board from the list to open it.
The board opens displaying its contents.
Locate a Board Using Browse
Use Browse when you need to search across every board in the account rather than only your own or your starred items.
To locate a board from here:
- Click the Browse icon in the left navigation panel.
- Enter a keyword in the search bar, or click Add filter to filter by creator, type, starred, or created and last edited.
- Toggle between the list view
and grid view
icons, and use the sort dropdown (for example, Recently edited or Name Z to A) to reorder the results.
- Click a board from the list to open it.
The board opens displaying its contents.
Understand the Board Structure and Components
A board is made up of the following components:
-
Description area: A free-text field at the top of the board for context, instructions, or links. For more information, see Add or Edit the Board Description.
-
Widgets: Report and text block tiles arranged in a grid on the board. Each widget is a live Metric, Funnel, or Flows report or a text block. Updating the source reports updates every board they appear on. For more information, see Manage Report Widgets on a Board.
-
Board-level date filter: By default, each widget displays data for the date range last set on its source report. Using the board-level date filter, you can apply a single date range across every widget on the page at once, so you do not need to filter each report separately. For more information, see Apply a Date Range to the Entire Board.
- Grid layout: The arrangement of widgets on the page, which you can rearrange by dragging and dropping. For more information, see Interact and Work with Report Widgets.
Interact with a Board
Once a board is open, the breadcrumb at the top confirms where you are and gives you a one-click path back to the previous page.
You can apply a board-wide date filter, add or edit its description, and work directly with the widgets on it. For more information, see the following sections.
Add or Edit the Board Description
Use the description area to give viewers context on what the board tracks, without leaving the page.
- Click + Add description directly below the board title.
- Enter your text.
- Click outside the description box to save it.
Apply a Date Range to the Entire Board
By default, a board displays each widget using the date range last set on its source report. Use the board-level date filter to override this and update every widget on the board at once, instead of editing each report individually.
To apply a board-wide filter:
- In the Filter by section, click one of the preset date ranges: Today, Yesterday, 7D, 15D, or 30D.
- To set a specific range, click Custom and select your start and end dates.
Every widget on the board refreshes to reflect data from the selected range. This also marks the board as having unsaved changes, so the Save button becomes active. Click Save to apply and save the changes.
Interact and Work with Report Widgets
Each widget on a board supports the same set of interactions, regardless of its chart type, so you can inspect the underlying data or customize your layout without opening individual reports.
You can interact with each widget in the following ways:
- To see the exact value, date, and segment behind a data point, hover over the chart within any widget. A tooltip displays the details.
- To mark the widget as a favorite or access its options, hover over the widget. Its star icon
and More options menu ⋮ appear in the top-right corner of the tile. From this menu, you can change the chart type, refresh the data, rename, duplicate, or remove the widget. For more information, see Manage Report Widgets on a Board.
- To reposition a widget, hover over its left edge until the drag handle ⋮⋮ appears, then drag it to a new position on the board.
- To insert new content next to a widget, hover over the widget. A + icon appears on either side of it. Click + to open a menu with the following options:
- Add existing reports: Add a report you have already created to this spot on the board.
- Text: Add a free-text block for notes or context.
-
Create & add: Build and insert a New Metric report, New Funnel report, or New Flows report directly from the board.
Note: You can add a maximum of 4 items per row.
Manage Report Widgets on a Board
Add Existing Reports to a Board
You can add a report you have already created to any board. For more information, see Add Existing Reports to a Board.
Newly added report widgets appear on the board immediately. Click Save to persist the change, or your additions are lost if you navigate away without saving.
Change a Widget's Chart Type
Switch how a widget's data is visualized without editing the underlying report. This is useful when a different chart type makes a trend or comparison easier to read.
To change the chart type of the report in the widget:
- Hover over the widget and click its More options ⋮ menu.
- Hover over Chart Type to open the submenu.
- Select a chart type: Line, Stacked Area, Metric, Column, Stacked Column, Pie, Bar, or Stacked Bar.
The widget re-renders in the selected format immediately.
Refresh, Rename, Duplicate, or Remove a Widget
- Hover over the widget and click its More options ⋮ menu.
- Select the action you need to perform:
| Action | What it does |
| Refresh Data | Pulls the latest data for that widget without reloading the whole board. |
| Rename | Allows you to rename the widget on this board without changing the underlying report's name. |
| Duplicate | Creates a copy of the widget on the same board. |
| Remove | Removes the widget from the board. This action does not delete the underlying report and its data. |
Open an Individual Report from a Widget
Open a widget's underlying report when you need to change its metrics, filters, or segments, rather than just its chart type or position on the board.
To open a full report from the board:
- Click the widget's title to open the underlying report in full view.
- The breadcrumb updates to Journey Analytics > [Board Name] > [Report Name].
- Use the report editor, including its Metric, Funnel, and Flows tabs to make your changes.
- Click Save to update it, or Save as new to create a separate copy instead of overwriting the original.
Manage Boards
Star a Board
Click the star icon next to the board title, or next to a board's name in a list, to add it to your Starred tab for quicker access later. Click the star
again to remove it from your starred items list.
Analyze a Board
Use Analyze to get an AI-generated summary of a board's reports, without manually reviewing each widget yourself. To get an AI-generated summary of a board:
- Open the board.
- Click Analyze in the top-right corner.
This opens the Wandz panel with a pre-filled prompt asking Wandz to analyze the board and highlight key insights across its reports. Wandz reviews the reports on the board and returns a structured summary, which can include key findings, data-quality flags, and recommended next steps.
To refine the summary, continue the conversation in the Wandz panel. Ask a follow-up question, request additional detail on a specific finding, or narrow the analysis to a particular report or metric, and Wandz updates its response accordingly.
Rename, Duplicate, or Delete a Board
- Open the board.
- Click the More options menu ⋮ in the top-right corner, next to Save.
-
Select Rename, Duplicate, or Delete.
Note:
- Duplicating a board also duplicates each report on it.
- Deleting a board removes the board and its layout only. The individual reports that were added to it are not deleted and remain available from Browse or Created by me.
You can also perform these actions without opening the board. Click the More options icon ⋮ in the board's row in any list view [Journey Analytics home (Overview) or Browse] to access the same options.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Possible Cause | Recommended Solution |
| Widget layout changes are not visible to other users. | Other viewers are looking at an outdated version of the board. | Ask them to refresh the browser page. Layout changes save automatically and should render automatically upon refresh. |
| When adding existing reports to a board, a report cannot be found in the Add Reports to Board panel. | An active search term or filter is hiding the report from the list. | Clear the search bar and any applied filters, then search again. |
FAQs
-
What is the difference between a board and a report?
A report is a single metric, funnel, or flows visualization. A board is a page that groups multiple existing reports together so you can view and filter them as a set.
-
Can I add the same report to more than one board?
Yes. You can add a report to multiple boards at once. When you open the report directly, the Added to [X] board(s) label shows how many boards currently include it.
-
Does editing a report from a board affect other boards that use it?
Yes. Reports are shared objects, so saving changes to a report updates it everywhere it appears, including on any other board.
-
What happens to a widget's data if I remove it from a board?
Nothing happens to the report itself. Removing a widget only takes it off that particular board. The report and its data remain intact and can be re-added at any time.
-
Can I undo a deleted board?
No. Deleting a board is permanent. The individual reports that were on it are not deleted, but the board's layout and description cannot be recovered.
-
Who can view a board?
A board is visible to anyone with access to the Journey Analytics module of your Wingify account. Boards are not restricted to their creator.
