Overview
The sections below cover the actions you will use most often in Wingify Journey Analytics, from creating a board or report, to organizing existing reports, adding reports to a board, marking items as favorites, and filtering and sorting them.
Create a Board
A board groups related reports into a single, shareable dashboard. Create one when you want multiple stakeholders to view several metrics, funnels, or flows together in one place, instead of sharing individual reports separately.
To create a board:
- From the Overview or Browse page, click + Create in the top right.
-
Under Board, click Start with a blank board.
Journey Analytics creates the board and opens it. -
Enter a name for the board, and optionally click + Add description to add its purpose.
Tip: A new board opens empty until you add content to it. Naming it and adding a description before adding reports helps teammates understand its purpose at a glance. -
With the board created, add content to it using either of the following:
- From the center of the page, click Create new report, Add existing report, or Add Text to add your first item.
- Alternatively, click + Add content in the top right. This opens a menu with Add existing reports and Text, plus a Create & add section with New Metric report, New Funnel report, and New Flows report. From here, you can create and add a report in a single step.
For more information on creating or adding a report, see Create a Report and Add an Existing Report to a Board. For more information on interacting with a board, see Navigate and Interact with a Board in Journey Analytics.
Create a Report
You can create a report as a standalone item, or build one directly from within a board.
To create a standalone report:
- From the Overview or Browse page, click + Create in the top right.
- Under Report, select Metric, Funnel, or Flows, depending on what you want to measure. Journey Analytics opens the report builder for that type.
- Build the report, then click Save. Optionally, add it to a board at this point instead of adding it later.
To create a report from within a board:
- Locate and open the board.
- Click + Add content in the top right.
- Choose the report type, then build the report. It is automatically added to that board.
For more information on building each report type, see Use Metric Reports in Journey Analytics, Use Funnel Reports in Journey Analytics, or Build and Analyze Visitor Paths with Flows Reports in Journey Analytics.
Switch Between Report Types while Building Them
While a report is still being built, its type is not fixed. If you begin building a metric report and realize a funnel or flows report would better suit your requirement, you can switch types without starting over in a new report.
To switch report types while building a report:
- Open the report you're building.
- In the left panel, click Metric, Funnel, or the Flows tab to switch the report type.
- Configure the fields for the new type, such as the metric, the funnel steps, or the starting event for a flow.
Add an Existing Report to a Board
If a report already exists, whether standalone or built inside another board, you can add it to a board instead of rebuilding it.
To add an existing report to a board:
- Locate and open the board you want to add the report to.
- Click Add content > Add existing reports.
- In the Add Reports to Board window, search or filter for the report by name.
- Select the checkbox next to each report you want to include.
-
Click + Add to add the selected reports to the board.
A report is not limited to one board. You can add it to multiple boards. When you open a report that's been added to more than one board, the header shows how many boards it is currently on. For example, Added to 2 boards. - Click this label to open a dropdown listing every board the report has been added to, along with who added it there.
- Click + Add to another board at the bottom of this dropdown to add the report to a board without leaving the report.
Star an Item for Quick Access
As you create and work with more boards and reports, locating a specific one from a growing list can take longer. Starring lets you mark the items you rely on most as favorites. So, they are always visible in the Starred tab on both Overview and Browse pages, without needing to search or filter for them each time.
To mark a board or report as a favorite:
- Locate the board or report in Overview or Browse.
- Click the star icon
next to its name.
The starred item is added to the Starred tab on the Overview and Browse pages. To remove it from the starred list, click the star again.
Filter/Sort Boards and Reports
As the number of boards and reports in your account grows, browsing the full list becomes impractical. Filtering and sorting narrows that list down to exactly what you're looking for, whether that's every funnel report a specific teammate created, or the most recently edited items.
To filter and sort the list of boards and reports:
- On the Browse page, click Add filter + to narrow the list further by Created by, Created on, Starred, Type, or Last edited.
- Click the sort dropdown on the right side (labeled Recently edited by default) and choose the sorting order based on your requirement. You can choose from: Most viewed, Recently edited, Name A to Z, or Name Z to A.
- Click the grid icon
in the top right to switch to a card-based layout, or the list icon
to return to the table.
Combine a tab, a filter, and a sort order together to narrow a list of hundreds of items down to a handful that are relevant to you.
FAQs
-
Can I remove a report from a board without deleting it?
Yes. Removing a report from a board only unlinks it from that board's layout. The report itself, and its data, remains available as a standalone report or from any other board it belongs to.
-
Does starring a report affect who else can see it?
No. Starring only affects your own Starred tab and view. It does not change who has access to the report or board.
-
Can I switch a report's type after I've already added data to it?
You can switch between metric, funnel, and flows while building a report, but each type uses a different configuration, such as a single metric versus a sequence of funnel steps. Switching types clears the fields specific to the previous type, so confirm your configuration before saving.
-
What happens if I update a report that's saved on multiple boards?
The update applies everywhere. A report is a single underlying item, so changes you save to it, such as its chart type, metric, or filters, are reflected on every board it has been added to.
