Create Funnels With Wingify Data Platform

Overview

Funnel Reports are a powerful tool for understanding website visitors' behavior. They help you identify bottlenecks in your conversion process and uncover why visitors are not reaching your desired outcomes.

Wingify lets you create funnels within the Data Platform module. You can configure the steps for your funnels using any metric or event. The report for this funnel can be viewed under Behavior Analytics > Funnels, which also allows you to post-segment your visitors to analyze their behavior specifically.

Create a Funnel Definition in Data Platform

In the Data Platform module, you can configure the funnels (funnel definition) and start tracking. You can also use the same funnel configuration and generate multiple reports with different segmentation conditions.

All the funnel reports created using the same configuration are centralized under the funnel configuration in Data Platform > Funnels. Any change to the funnel configuration will affect all linked reports accordingly.

For instance, you want to track drop-offs when navigating from the product page to checkout. Now, if you want to view the report for specific regions (e.g., New Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore), you can clone this funnel and apply the appropriate segmentation criteria.

To do this, perform the following steps:

1. From the main menu on your Wingify dashboard, go to Data Platform > Funnels.
2. Click on the Create button.
3. Enter a name for your funnel (e.g.,Product page to Checkout).
4. Click on Add a step to define the steps of your funnel using events or metrics:
   • Page Visit: Select this event to define the product page visit and specify the URL.
   • Click: To track clicks on an add-to-cart button, select the track click event and specify the button’s text content.

   • Checkout: Use the checkout metric to track the visitors who click on the checkout CTA.

     Note: You can add up to 35 steps in a funnel.
5. Click on the Create button to save your funnel.

Create a Funnel Report in Behavior Analytics

Once you've created a funnel, you can leverage it to generate insightful reports. To begin, click on the Create a funnel report button at the top-right of the funnel configuration page. This action will redirect you to the Behavior Analytics > Funnel Reports page.

Next, you can name your report and apply any necessary segmentation to target the visitors for your funnel. Once these steps are completed, click Create to configure your report.

With the funnel report now set up and ready, the final step is to click Start Tracking. This will activate the tracking of visitors as they progress through the funnel, allowing you to monitor their journey and gather valuable insights.

Alternatively, you can also create a funnel report directly from the Funnel Reports section.

1. Navigate to Funnel Reports from the dashboard
2. Click the Create button
3. Name the funnel report.
4. Configure the funnel definition either by choosing from an existing funnel or creating a new one.
5. Configure the visitors for the funnel.
6. Click Create.

The funnel report page includes the following tabs:

• Report: Displays your funnel's tracking report, showing conversions and drop-offs at each step. Click here to learn how to interpret your funnel reports.
• Configuration: This section features your funnel's configuration, including the steps (funnel definition) and any pre-applied segmentation. You can clone the funnel definition or delete it altogether by clicking on the corresponding buttons at the top-right corner.

Leverage Funnels in Wingify Tests

Wingify lets you integrate funnels created in Wingify Data Platform as metrics within your tests, enabling detailed tracking of user behavior across each step of their journey. These funnels visually highlight where users drop off before completing key goals such as making a purchase or signing up. They also help you identify friction points and optimize for better conversions.

This makes it convenient to track and analyze end-user journeys more effectively.

Depending on what aspects of the user experience you want to measure or improve, these funnels can be added as Primary or Secondary metrics while configuring the tests.

To add funnels as part of your metrics:

1. Create a test in Wingify. Let us consider an A/B Test in this case.
2. Configure the Pages and Variations for your campaign.
3. Based on your testing goals, add the metrics. Under the Metrics section, click +Add in the Primary metric section. Optionally, you can also add multiple metrics in the Secondary metrics section
4. Click the Funnels tab from the drop-down menu and select the funnel you created in Data Platform.
5. Click Save now.

Similarly, you can add multiple funnels as metrics in the Secondary metrics section to track other user journeys in the same campaign.

FAQs

• What happens if I edit a funnel definition when its reports are running?
  Editing the funnel definition while any of its reports is live will flush the data from the live report and start accumulating new data from that point onward.
   
• When does the funnel definition created from Funnel Reports get added to Data Platform?
  The funnel configuration created in Funnel Reports will appear in Data Platform > Funnels only after the tracking has been initiated. Funnels created from Wingify Tests, such as A/B tests, are instantly available in Data Platform upon creation.
   
• How can I create a new funnel using an existing definition with a few modifications?
  You can clone the existing funnel and then add or modify the steps as needed to create a new funnel.
   
• What is the impact of modifying a funnel configuration inside a report?
  Any changes made within a report will apply only to that specific report and will not affect the original funnel configuration.
   
• Can I edit a funnel used in a Wingify Test directly from the test setup?
  For funnels used in a Wingify Test, modifications cannot be made within the test setup itself. Instead, users are redirected to Data Platform to make changes, which are then applied globally to that funnel across all associated tests and reports.
