Overview
Wingify Web Experimentation lets you run three test (campaign) types (A/B, Split URL, and Multivariate) to compare versions of your website and discover what works best for your visitors. This article walks you through the full process of setting up any test type, highlighting where the steps differ between each test.
Prerequisites
Before you create a test, make sure you have added the Wingify SmartCode to every page you want to include in the campaign. Without the SmartCode, Wingify cannot deliver variations to your visitors.
Info: To verify your SmartCode installation, go to Configurations > Websites & Apps > Debugger in your Wingify account and enter the page URL.
Campaign Types in Web Experimentation
Choose the test type that matches your hypothesis:
| Test Type | When to Use | Key Characteristic |
|---|---|---|
| A/B Test | Compare two or more versions of the same page (same URL). | Variations are served at the same URL; Wingify injects changes. |
| Multi-Page A/B Test | Test changes that span across multiple pages in a single experiment. | Variations are applied consistently across all specified pages for the same visitor. |
| Split URL Test | Test multiple versions of a page hosted on different URLs. | Visitors are redirected to variation URLs. Ideal for major redesigns. |
| Multivariate Test (MVT) | Test multiple elements on a single page simultaneously. | Wingify automatically generates all possible combinations of your element changes. |
Get Started with Campaign Creation
To create a new test, go to Web Experimentation in your Wingify dashboard and click Create in the top-right corner. Select the test type from the menu that appears. Wingify creates the campaign and opens the Configuration screen.
Tip: You can also use Create with Copilot to let Wingify's AI suggest a test based on your optimization goal. For more information, see Create Campaigns using Wingify AI.
Campaign Configuration Overview
Regardless of the test type, every campaign uses the same configuration structure. The left pane shows your progress through the following sections:
| Section | What You Configure Here |
|---|---|
| Pages | The URL(s) or page groups where your test will run. |
| Variations & Traffic | Create variations and set traffic allocation. For Split URL tests, this is where you define the control and variation URLs. |
| Metrics | Define KPIs. The primary metric determines the winner. Secondary metrics provide additional context. |
| Targeting | Define the audience conditions and trigger rules for each page group. |
| Integrations | Connect third-party tools like Google Analytics or BigQuery. |
| Advanced Configurations | Access advanced settings: Guardrails, SmartStats Configuration, Manual Activation, Mutually Exclusive groups, Additional Options, Hypothesis, and Notes & Labels. |
Each section is covered in a dedicated article. Use the links below to go directly to the topic you need:

Navigate the Campaign Dashboard
The campaign page has three tabs at the top of the left pane:
- Configuration: Where you build your campaign. Navigate between sections in the left pane.
- Review: Becomes active once the required sections are complete. Use this to check your settings, preview variations, and view screenshots.
- Reports: Shows live and historical campaign data once the test is running.
At the bottom of each configuration screen, Previous and Next options let you move between sections. You can also click any section in the left pane directly. Click Save Now at any point to save your progress without advancing.
Manage Your Campaign
The three-dot menu at the top of the left pane (next to the campaign name) gives you campaign management actions. The campaign status dropdown shows the current state (Draft, Running, Paused, or Stopped) and lets you change it.
From this menu, you can:
- Edit the campaign name
- View the timeline of all events and changes applied to the campaign
- Clone the campaign to create a copy with identical settings
- Flush campaign data. Use this with caution. Wingify recommends cloning the campaign first, then flushing the data from the clone.
- Archive the campaign to remove it from the active list while retaining all data
- Delete the campaign permanently (recoverable via the retrieve link)
- Email the campaign link to a teammate
- Print the configuration summary
- Download the campaign report as a CSV file
Note: Do not flush data from a live campaign and re-run the same test. Instead, clone the campaign, flush data from the clone, and make your changes there. This preserves your original data.
