Overview
Mobile Recordings in Wingify offer the following details:
- Location of the visitor
- Number of screens recorded on your mobile application
- Duration of the recording along with the date and time at which the recording has been created
- The device used by the visitor to access the application
- The operating system of your visitor’s device
Using these data, you can target and study the patterns of different cohorts in different time frames. That’s why Wingify offers you the filtering option for your mobile session recordings, with which you can filter the list for the data subject to definite dates and segmentation criteria.
Filter Recordings by Date and Time
To filter reports within a specific date range, click on the Date Filter and select the date range for which you want to view the recordings. By default, the session recordings report displays data within the last 30 days from the current day. You can choose from one of the following preset options, as required:

| Last 7 Days | View reports of the last 7 days from today |
| Yesterday | View yesterday's recording data |
| Today | View today's recording data |
To specify a custom date range, just choose the start date and the end date from the calendar. You can also specify the time in hours and minutes to draw results accurately within the time frame. To define the time period, use the Start and End options to select the appropriate numbers for the hours and minutes.
Note: The time zone displayed here is the one that you have set under Settings > Campaign > Locale Settings > Timezone.
Once done, click the Filter button to filter the recordings for your specified time period.
Filter Recordings by User Segments
The Visitor Segments filter allows you to apply predefined segmentation criteria or create a custom one for your mobile session recordings list. To apply the segmentation criteria, click on the Visitor Segments filter. To learn more about configuring conditions in a segment, refer to Segmentation in Wingify.
Use the Standard Segments to apply one of the following predefined segmentation criteria to your mobile session recordings list:
| Mobile Traffic | To fetch the recordings of the visitors who use your app on a mobile phone |
| Tablet Traffic | To fetch the recordings of the visitors who use your app on a tablet |
| New Visitors | To fetch the recordings of the visitors who use your app for the first time |
| Returning Visitors | To fetch the recordings of the visitors who have already been using your app |
To define segmentation criteria of your own, you can use the Custom Segment section. It typically offers you the following bunch of visitor attributes and events specific to mobile session recordings to create your unique criteria:

| App Version | The version of your mobile application used by the visitors |
| iOS Version | To specify the iOS version of the device used by the visitors |
| Android Version | The Android version of the device used by the visitors |
| Day of Week | To specify a definite day in a week on which the visitors used your app |
| Hour of the Day | To specify a definite hour in a day at which the visitors used your app |
| Visitor Type | To define the type of visitors - new or returning |
| Visitor Language | The language used by the visitors to navigate through your app |
| Visitor ID | The unique ID (UUID) of the visitors |
| Location | To specify the geographic location of the visitors |
| Manufacturer | To specify the manufacturer of the visitor's mobile device |
| Package Name | To fetch the recordings of the sessions corresponding to the name of your application package |
| Recording Duration | To fetch the mobile session recordings corresponding to the stipulated time length |
| Screen Count | The number of screens viewed by the visitors during the session on your app |
| Standard Events | |
| Screen Viewed | To specify the screens viewed by the visitors. You can specify the following properties for this event: Visited Screen First Screen Last Screen Is Screen Excluded (True/False) |
| App Crashed | To fetch the recordings of the visitors who faced an app crash event. You can define a specific Stack Trace to fetch the corresponding session recordings. |
| App Not Responding | To fetch the recordings of the visitors who faced an ANR (App Not Responding) event, you can define a specific App Not Responding to fetch the corresponding session recordings. |
| Network Change | To fetch the sessions where the visitors have stayed online or gone offline during the session |
| Orientation Change | To fetch the sessions where the visitors have switched the screen view between portrait and landscape |
| My Events | Displays the list of custom events you've created in the Data360 module. You can apply the required segmentation criteria to filter the recordings that feature the selected event(s). While viewing the recordings, the custom events are displayed under Events of current session at their respective time of occurrence during the session. To learn more about interpreting the mobile session recordings, click here. NOTE: Using the custom events for mobile session recordings is available on request-basis. In order to enable it, reach out to Wingify support. |
Note: This release does not support using your custom events (that you have created in Wingify Data360) for segmentation purposes. This will be available in subsequent releases.
You can use several conditions, group them together using the condition brackets [ ], and use the ‘and’ or ‘or’ operators to create your segment criteria. To learn how to apply custom segments, refer to Defining Custom Visitor Segments in Wingify.
Segment Your Visitors Using Funnels
Besides creating custom segment conditions using attributes and events in multiple combinations, you can also append to them a sequence of events that help you funnel your visitors.
Picture this: You're seeing a surge in website traffic, but your sales numbers aren't reflecting that growth. Why? You know visitors are adding items to their carts, but something's preventing them from completing the purchase.
This is where the funnel feature comes in handy. It can help you peel back the layers of events to unravel the story behind how the pebble got into your shoe.
With funnels, you can create numerous sequences to pump out the insights from your visitor behaviour on your platform.
THINGS TO REMEMBER:
- With funnels, you can only add events (standard and custom) to create a sequence.
- You can add only one funnel (a sequence of events) and append it with any number of segment conditions.
- When a funnel is included, you cannot use ‘OR’ to connect any condition.
- A funnel can only be appended to a segment condition and cannot be standalone for defining visitors.
Creating a Funnel
To create a sequence to funnel your visitors, perform the following steps:
- Click on the Add sequence of events option and select an event from the dropdown.
- By default, the events are set as happened. You can toggle them to didn’t happen by clicking on this icon ().
Note: A funnel can feature only one event as didn’t happen. - Under Standard Events, for Screen Viewed, Network Change and Orientation Change options, you can define them further by clicking on where and specifying the Visited Screen, Current Network Status (Online / Offline) and Type of Orientation (LANDSCAPE / PORTRAIT), respectively. For any custom event, click on where to configure the event properties to funnel the visitors.
- You can add more events by clicking on + add event in sequence.
For example, your e-commerce app is experiencing a significant drop-off rate during the checkout process. You suspect the issue lies between adding items to the cart and completing the purchase.
You can easily gather the reality by setting up a funnel with the stages that range from the product screen to the purchase completion process.
Once the configuration is set, click Filter to view the corresponding recordings.
