Overview
The data retention period in Wingify is the duration for which your data will be retained on Wingify servers. The data retention policy applies across all Wingify products.
When the applicable data retention period expires, your data is purged on a rolling window basis.
For example, if the data retention period for your current plan is 60 days, Wingify servers will continue to retain your data for 60 days each. Data purging begins on day 61. This means that the data stored in the Wingify servers on day 1 will get purged by day 61, and the data will be purged on the subsequent days.
To check your retention period and data usage:
- Navigate to the Profile menu in the top-right corner and select Settings.
- Go to Subscription & Invoices > My Subscription > Your Plan.
Aggregated and Raw Individual Visitor Data Retention Policy
Wingify retains two types of collected data, with different retention rules for each:
-
Aggregated campaign-level data (such as total visitors, total conversions, and other metrics): This data remains available until the account is active.
For example, if a campaign runs for 15 months, the aggregated campaign-level data remains available throughout the campaign and as long as the account remains active.
-
Raw individual visitor data (such as visitor country, browser, device, and other attributes used for segmentation): This data is retained for 13 months from the date a visitor became part of a campaign. After 13 months, this detailed raw individual visitor data is purged.
For example, if a visitor becomes part of a campaign on January 1, their raw individual visitor data remains accessible for 13 months until February 1 of the following year, after which it is purged, while their contribution to aggregated campaign-level data remains visible.
Note:
-
The 13-month rule does not apply to Wingify Insights. Here, raw individual visitor data is retained based on your specific plan tier:
- Growth: 30 days
- Pro: 60 days
- Enterprise: 90 days
- Irrespective of the data retention period, Wingify offers to retain the data corresponding to Saved Session Recordings until the time the account is active.
How Data Retention Works in Different Scenarios
Regardless of whether a campaign is running, paused, or resumed, aggregated campaign-level data remains available until the account is active, while raw individual visitor data older than 13 months is purged on a rolling basis.
The status of your campaign determines only whether new data is collected:
Campaign Scenarios
| If your campaign has been paused | Data collection stops. Raw individual visitor data older than 13 months continues to be purged on a rolling basis, while aggregated campaign-level data remains visible in your reports. |
| If your campaign is running | Data collection continues. Raw individual visitor data older than 13 months is purged on a rolling basis, while aggregated campaign-level data continues to accumulate. |
| If your campaign is resumed | Data collection resumes. New visitor data is collected from the time the campaign is resumed. Raw individual visitor data older than 13 months continues to be purged on a rolling basis, while aggregated campaign-level data remains visible in your reports. |
Note:
- Purged raw visitor data cannot be recovered. If you upgrade to a higher plan, the extended retention period will only apply to future data. It will not restore the raw individual visitor data that has already been purged and aggregated. For more information about updating your plan, see Impact of Subscription Update on the Data Retention Period.
- For all Wingify products, you can post-segment data for a maximum of 30 days at a time, irrespective of the data retention period you have subscribed to. For example, if your data retention period is for 60 or 90 days, you can only apply segmentation for any 30-day period by specifying the period using the date-range filter.
Impact of Subscription Update on the Data Retention Period
Updating your Wingify subscription plan directly impacts how long your data is retained.
Downgrading Your Plan
- For Wingify Insights: The retention period decreases as per the new plan. For example, if you downgrade from Pro to Growth plan, only the last 30 days of data are maintained, while the rest is purged.
- For other products: Upon downgrading your plan, your data continues to follow the standard 13-month retention policy. Raw individual visitor data older than 13 months is purged on a rolling basis, while aggregated campaign-level data remains available.
Upgrading Your Plan
- For Wingify Insights: The existing data is retained, and new data continues to accumulate. For example, if the previous retention plan was for 30 days and you upgrade it to a plan with a higher retention period of 60 days, previous data is retained, and new data is added incrementally. Here, the data purge will happen only on day 61.
- For other products: When you upgrade your subscription plan, existing campaign data within the 13-month retention window is preserved, along with any newly collected data.
Subscriptions, Cancellations, and Evaluation Period
- Unsubscribing from Wingify: Post unsubscribing, Wingify retains data for only 30 days, irrespective of the retention period of the existing plan.
- Subscribing to Wingify: Data is populated incrementally from the day of account activation. Data deletion occurs only after the first complete retention period.
- Evaluation Period: By default, Wingify Insights evaluation period has a 30-day retention bucket. For information about the retention bucket for other Wingify products, see What Happens to the Data Collected in My Account During Free Trial?
