Overview
Every campaign, whether it drives a noticeable increase in conversions or shows no meaningful change, provides valuable insights. Recording these outcomes ensures that future decisions are based on actual data rather than assumptions. Over time, this prevents teams from repeating the same mistakes and helps refine experimentation strategies.
Wingify’s Learnings feature helps you capture and organize key takeaways from your experiments in one place. Instead of relying on scattered notes or memory, you can document what worked, what didn’t, and why. This setup helps you create a reliable knowledge base for your team.
For example, your team tests adding a Free Trial banner across multiple product pages. If the experiment consistently shows no improvement in conversions, you can log it as a Neutral impact with details about the audience, placement, and design. Later, when planning new campaigns, your team can quickly refer to this learning to decide whether to avoid similar approaches or try a different variation, such as changing the messaging instead of the placement.
By continuously documenting these insights, you build a growing repository of proven ideas and lessons learned, making your experimentation program more efficient and effective over time.
Note: The Learnings feature is available only for A/B, Split URL, and Personalize campaigns. It is not available for Multivariate Testing (MVT), Feature Rollouts, or Web Rollouts.
Prerequisites
- Your Wingify account must have the Learnings feature enabled.
- You must have Design-level access or higher to add or edit learnings. Users with Browse-level access cannot modify learnings.
Capture Campaign Learnings
You can capture learnings at any stage of a campaign, whether it is currently running or has already ended. Wingify also automatically prompts you to capture and document learnings the moment you manually end a campaign, encouraging consistent documentation. To add learnings once the campaign ends, continue from Step 3 below.
To capture learnings while the campaign is running:
- Navigate to the Report tab of the campaign.
- Click the Learning icon in the secondary navigation bar.
- In the Share your campaign learnings modal, fill in the mandatory assessment fields:
- What is the overall impact of the campaign?: Select from Positive, Neutral, Negative, or Inconclusive.
- How would you describe the outcome overall?: Select from options like Surprising, Expected, Undefined, Biased, Push further, or No impact.
Tip: This assessment indicates the overall impact of your campaign. Update it only when your understanding of the campaign changes meaningfully.
- Click Add learning note to record specific observations.
- Click Save learning. The note is listed as a learning in the pop-up. You can edit or delete the note any time you want. Click next to the note, and select the action you want to perform.
- You can add multiple notes to a single campaign to track evolving insights. To add more learning notes, click +Add another learning note and repeat the same steps.
- Click Save learning to save your changes. Note:
- You can directly save the learning after selecting the Overall Impact and Overall Outcome. However, adding a note is recommended to provide context and make the insight actionable.
- You cannot add learning notes or save a learning unless you select both the Overall impact and the Overall outcome.
Once you save a learning, a confirmation message appears with a direct link to the Learnings Library. From here, you can quickly navigate to the Learnings Library available on the Campaigns Overview dashboard, where all your recorded insights are consolidated. This makes it easy to move from capturing individual learnings to viewing and managing them across all campaigns in one place.
View, Edit, and Manage Learnings from the Learning Library
The Learnings Library, accessible from the Campaigns Overview dashboard, serves as a central hub for viewing the status and performance of all your campaigns. It also brings together all the insights you’ve captured across your campaigns in one place. It lets you easily view, review, and manage your documented learnings without opening individual campaign reports.
With dedicated columns and a consolidated view, you can quickly scan key outcomes, revisit past observations, and identify patterns across experiments, helping you make more informed decisions for future optimization efforts.
To view and edit learnings:
- From your Wingify account’s dashboard, go to Campaigns Overview.
- Locate the columns for Impact, Outcome, and Learning note.
Note: You may have to scroll horizontally on the screen to view these columns. - Click View learnings in the relevant row to open the side drawer. This drawer displays comprehensive campaign details, including unique visitors, learnings, primary metrics, improvement percentages, and impact on goal.
- Click Edit within the side drawer to modify previous assessments or add new notes.
- In the Screenshots section within the drawer, you can upload images for the Control and Variation to provide visual context for your learning. This visual context is useful for documenting what was tested and referencing specific UI changes later.
- Click the Reporting link against the Raw data field to open the original campaign report in a new tab. This feature enables you to cross-reference your qualitative notes with quantitative data.
Troubleshooting
| Issue | Possible Cause | Recommended Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Learnings are not visible on the Campaigns Overview dashboard. | Active filters on the dashboard, such as status, date range, or campaign type, may be impacting the view. | Clear or adjust the applied filters to ensure the relevant campaigns are included in the view. |
| The recently added learning note does not appear. | Temporary UI delay or caching issue. | Refresh the page or revisit the Campaigns Overview dashboard after a few seconds. |
| The Save learning button is disabled. | Mandatory fields are incomplete. | Ensure you have selected an option for both the Overall impact and Overall outcome assessment. |
| Cannot see the Learning icon in an MVT campaign. | Feature limitation. | Learnings are currently supported only for A/B, Split URL, and Personalize campaigns. |
| Unable to edit a learning. | User permissions or archived state. | Verify you have Design-level access or higher. Additionally, note that learnings cannot be edited once a campaign is archived. |
FAQs
-
Can I upload multiple screenshots for a single variation?
Yes. You can upload multiple screenshots one at a time. After uploading the first image, Wingify provides an option to add another.
-
Is there a limit to the number of learning notes I can add?
No. There is no restriction on the number of notes you can log for a single campaign.
-
Does Wingify automatically suggest the impact based on the data?
No. The impact and outcome fields are qualitative assessments that must be selected manually by the user based on their analysis of the results.
-
Can multiple users collaborate on adding and editing learnings?
Yes. Users with Design-level access or higher can add, edit, and manage learnings for campaigns.
-
Can I search or filter campaigns based on learnings?
No. However, you can use other filters in the Campaigns Overview dashboard to narrow down results, and then review learnings within those campaigns.
-
Do learnings affect campaign performance or results?
No. Learnings are purely for documentation and analysis. They do not impact how campaigns run or how results are calculated.
