Using Tealium Audiences and Badges as Targeting Conditions in Wingify

Integrating Wingify with Tealium

Wingify empowers content managers to run A/B tests at scale in an intuitive manner. With the Wingify-Tealium integration, you can use the audiences and badges created in Tealium as targeting conditions in Wingify.

NOTE: The Wingify-Tealium integration is available in the Pro and Enterprise plans of Wingify.

Integrating Wingify with Tealium is a two-step process:

1. Enable the Tealium integration in Wingify
2. Use Tealium data as targeting condition in Wingify

Enable the Tealium integration in Wingify

To enable the Wingify-Tealium integration for your Wingify account, follow this:

Procedure

1. Log in to your Wingify account.
2. From the left panel of your Wingify dashboard, go to Configurations > Integrations.
3. Search for and select the Tealium integration tile.
4. In the top-right corner, click Create Connection.
5. In the right panel, click Import Audiences and Badges from Tealium
6. Enter the values for the following fields: 
   1. Connection name
   2. Tealium Account Name
   3. Tealium Profile 
   4. Tealium LocalStorage Key
   5. [Optional]Tealium Private Cloud URL
      Note: You can find your Tealium Account Name and Profile in the Tealium Customer Data Hub dashboard; these correspond to the Account and Profile fields, respectively
      
      In addition, Tealium stores visitor profile data in localstorage in the browser using this Tealium LocalStorage Key (auto-generated as soon as you enable the Tealium integration in Wingify). You do not need to change this key value if you use the Tealium IQ tag manager to add Tealium to your page. If you are using any other tag manager, you might need to change this key.
7. Once done, click Create Connector.
8. To sync your Tealium data with Wingify, select More options > Edit > click Sync Data.

INFO: Wingify syncs your audiences and badges created in Tealium once every 24 hours. 

Note: You can get the Tealium Account Name (is mapped to the Account field in Tealium Customer Data Hub) and Tealium Profile (is mapped to the Profile field in Tealium Customer Data Hub) in the Tealium Customer Data Hub dashboard.

In addition, Tealium stores visitor profile data in localstorage in the browser using this Tealium LocalStorage Key (auto-generated as soon as you enable the Tealium integration in VWO). You need not change this key value if you use the Tealium IQ tag manager to add Tealium to your page. If you are using any other tag manager, you might need to change this key.

Send Campaign Data to Tealium

Use this connection type to send Wingify campaign and variation data to Amplitude for reporting and analysis.

To configure the connection:

1. In the top right, click Create Connection and select Send campaign data to Tealium.

2. Enter a name in the Connection Name field and click Create Connection. A connection is established with Tealium and your account.

   Note: You can set this connection as the default for all new campaigns you create henceforth. To set it as the default connection, switch on the Default toggle for the Send campaign data to Tealium connection. Once a connection is marked as default, Wingify automatically applies it to all new campaigns. Existing campaigns remain unaffected. If no default connection is set, you must manually select the appropriate connection for each new campaign.

To enable this integration at the campaign level, use the following steps:

1. Navigate to Web Experimentation or Personalize.
2. Select the desired campaign, and go to Configuration > Integrations.
3. Select the Tealium checkbox from the list of available integrations and click Save Now.

Specifications of Wingify Campaign Data Sent to Tealium

Wingify sends campaign data to Tealium using the following event format:

• Accounts created before June 14, 2026
• Accounts created on/after June 14, 2026

Use Tealium Data as Targeting Condition in Wingify

Assume you manage an e-commerce website and wish to run an A/B test campaign for visitors who abandoned the cart. To do so, create a Tealium audience type called Cart Abandoner and sync data with Wingify. This allows you to use Tealium's data as a targeting condition in Wingify to ensure that your test campaign executes for those visitors.

To use the Tealium integration as a targeting condition in Wingify, follow this:

Procedure

1. Log in to your Wingify account.
2. From the left navigation menu, go to Web Experimentation or Personalize and create a test campaign.
3. On the Configuration tab, click Targeting.
4. Under Segments, click the pencil icon next to All Traffic.
5. Go to Custom Segment and create a segment using any (or both) of the following conditions: Tealium Audience and Tealium Badge. 
   For example, configure a custom segment where Tealium Audience is equal to Cart Abandoned.

6. NOTE: When you choose Tealium Audience or Badge as a targeting condition, we set the Poll Until setting to Custom Event by default, which includes a code snippet that waits 5 seconds for the localStorageKey (tealium_va or the value you specified in the Config tab)to be available. The segmentation condition will not apply if this is not available within 5 seconds. This time interval can be modified as per your requirement. 
   To add multiple conditions, click Add condition. Also, you can define the logical relationship between the different conditions using the And/Or operators and use brackets to organize the segment condition.
7. Once done, click Save Segment.

You might experience a delay in Wingify changes getting applied on the page as the Tealium API call might take some time to populate the required info on the page.
