Overview
The Mouseflow Integration allows you to send Wingify campaign data, specifically the Campaign ID and Variation ID, directly into Mouseflow as custom tags. By bridging these two platforms, you can filter your Mouseflow session recordings and heatmaps based on the specific Wingify variation a visitor experienced.
How Does the Wingify MouseFlow Integration Work?
Wingify checks if the Mouseflow tracking code is installed on the target page. If it is, and a visitor becomes a part of a campaign, Wingify automatically sends a tag to Mouseflow that indicates the test and version the visitor saw in the following tag format based on the date of your account creation.
VWO-[Campaign_ID]-[Variation_ID]
Example - VWO-292-1
It implies that the Campaign ID is 292 and the Variation ID is 1.
wingify -[Campaign_ID]-[Variation_ID]
Example - wingify-292-1
It implies that the Campaign ID is 292 and the Variation ID is 1.
Prerequisites
- A Wingify account with an active subscription.
- A Mouseflow account.
- Both the WingifySmartCode and the Mouseflow tracking code must be installed and active on the target webpages.
Create a Mouseflow Connection in Wingify
Wingify supports the following Mouseflow connection type:
- Send campaign data to Mouseflow (push-based): Allows you to track and analyze Wingify campaign data in Mouseflow using campaign and variation details.
To start sending campaign data to Mouseflow, you must enable the integration at the account level and then at the campaign level.
To create and enable the Mouseflow connection at the account level:
- Log in to your Wingify account.
- From the left panel, navigate to Configurations > Integrations.
- Search for Mouseflow in the search bar.
- Click the Mouseflow tile. A connection screen appears.
- Click Create Connection. A panel appears on the right.
- In the Create Connection form, enter a name in the Connection Name field, for example, Mouseflow Connector.
- Click Create Connection. A connection is established between Wingify and Mouseflow.
To enable this integration at the campaign level, use the following steps:
- Navigate to Web Experimentation or Personalize.
- Select the desired campaign, and go to Configuration > Integrations.
- Select the Mouseflow checkbox from the list of available integrations to activate the integration.
- Click Save Now to apply the changes to your campaign settings.
The Mouseflow integration is now active for your account, and the campaign data will be sent to your Mouseflow account.
Verify Data Capture in Mouseflow
Once the integration is running and data is being captured, you can filter your Mouseflow reports using Wingify tags.
To verify whether the data is getting captured in Mouseflow:
- Log in to your Mouseflow account and go to Session Replay or Live Sessions.
- Open a recording of a visitor who was part of the test.
-
In the recording details pane, look under Tags and variables.
Based on the account creation date, you should see a tag in the following format:
VWO-[Campaign_ID]-[Variation_ID]
Example - VWO-292-1
wingify -[Campaign_ID]-[Variation_ID]
Example - wingify-292-1
View Data in Mouseflow
To view Mouseflow data only for visitors who saw a specific Wingify variation, follow these steps:
- Access your Mouseflow Dashboard or Recordings list.
- Click the Filters icon.
- Navigate to Tags and variables and select Tag.
- Choose the option Has any of the following.
- Select the relevant Wingify tag that corresponds to the variation you wish to analyze (for example, VWO-292-1 for Variation 1).
- Click Apply.
Once applied, the dashboard, heatmaps, and recording lists will be filtered to display data exclusively for visitors exposed to that selected variation.
Best Practices
Follow these best practices to ensure optimal integration between Wingify and Mouseflow.
- Wait for Data: After launching a new campaign, allow some time for new sessions to be recorded before attempting to filter them in Mouseflow.
- Verify in Incognito: To ensure tags are firing, open your website in an Incognito window, verify you are part of the test using Wingify debugging tools, and then check for the _mFq push in the browser console.
- Consistent Filtering: When analyzing results, ensure you apply the same date-range filters in both Wingify and Mouseflow for an accurate comparison.

FAQs
-
Does this integration work retroactively?
No. Mouseflow will tag sessions only after the integration is enabled and the campaign settings are saved.
-
Can I see the variation name instead of the ID in Mouseflow?
Currently, Wingify sends the Variation ID (for example, 1 or 2) in the tag.
-
Will enabling this integration slow down my website?
No. The integration simply pushes a small text string to the existing Mouseflow queue and does not require additional heavy script loads.
